Ideals Are Difficult to Live By
Then knowing your ideal, practice it. Don't have an ideal and then not practice it in your daily activities.

Ideals can be very important, especially during the time of a person's greatest test.
Diane's divorce was painful. During the course of the process, she came to realize that she couldn't change anyone else, just herself. She would be her own biggest problem if she weren't careful. She knew she would have to work daily with her emotions and her attitudes and keep them clear in order to come through this.
Many times she reminded herself moment by moment that her ideals were love and forgiveness. She tried to be non-judgmental, non-condemning, and struggled with anger, worry, and jealousy.
Looking to God as the source of her strength, she found she could deal with her feelings of abandonment and help her children deal with their feelings of being deserted. It was not easy. It required patience, but in the long run she was a healthier person because she kept her ideals in front of her and did not give in to more destructive emotions and attitudes.
APPLICATION: When you are tempted today to do something not in keeping with your ideals, stop for a moment and choose an action that would be in accord with your ideals.
