Only by aiding others may the soul advance in its development toward following that purpose for which it came into the earth.
Based on Edgar Cayce reading 423-3
During the month before the High Holy Days, people prepare their souls for the Day of Judgment. One rabbi used to tell stories to his congregation in order to move them to turn to God. Once he told this story:
"A man was lost in the forest. After many days of wandering, he came across another man who was also lost in the forest. The second man, not knowing the situation of the first man, asked how to get out of the woods. The first man responded, 'I do not know how to get out of the woods. However, I can point to paths that will lead further into the forest. After that, we can work together to find the way out.'" The Rabbi concluded by saying, "So, my congregation, let us look together for the way.
