If one would have friends, one must show self friendly! This is not merely as an idiom, or as a saying, but truth! This should not be merely preached at the entity but practiced WITH the entity!
Daily Application of Selected Cayce Readings
Living the Example
Be joyous in the service God would make of you - even in trials - as one that would be a bright and morning star to your neighbor.
Based on Edgar Cayce reading 640-1
Mike believed that everything that happens to us has a purpose. Therefore, how we handle a situation is important. He found this idea tested in an unexpected way.
One evening he was involved in an accident that left his legs partially paralyzed. In the rehabilitation center, it was unclear for a while exactly how much use of his legs he would regain. Because of his work with the Edgar Cayce readings, he decided that this was an opportunity for growth and he didn't dare mishandle it. So he began to laugh and joke with the nurses and doctors. He could still have fun.
Billy, a 13-year-old boy, helped Mike as much as Mike helped him. Billy had lost both his parents in an auto accident that had severed his spinal cord, leaving him paralyzed from the waist down. The two liked to play jokes on each other.
On one occasion Mike had tricked Billy earlier in the day. That evening when Mike got back to his room and tried to turn on the TV, his hand slipped off the controls. Billy had put butter on all the controls on the set.
Some days later the doctor, having observed his behavior, remarked, "Mike, you are a very important example for others." Without really being aware of it, in the midst of his trials, he had been helping people by living joyfully.
APPLICATION: Even when life seems overwhelming, do one thing that will show you are "a bright star" to someone else.
